The inaugural function of the solid waste to electricity generation plant installed in the Kilimanur Public market at the Pazhayakunnummel Grama Panchayath was held on 24th August by Adv. Sri. A Sampath, Member of Parliament. Adv. N. Rajan, MLA presided over the meeting, which was attended among others by Mr. Narayanan, President, Pazhayakunnummel Grama Panchayath and Sri. B.P Murali, Panchayath Vice President.
The project was implemented by incurring an expenditure of Rs. 10 lakh. With the implementation of this scheme it could be possible to treat as much as 250 Kg of biodegradable waste generated in the market every day in an eco-friendly manner. 3 K.V electricity generated by treating the waste could be used for lighting 50 CF lamps provided in the market area. The electricity produced in the plant is also being utilized for setting to work the pre-digester, gas filter, recycling pump etc. attached to the plant.
The bio-waste treatment electricity generation plant installed at the Amboori Panchayat market was inaugurated by the Block Panchayat President Sri. D.G Retnakumar at 13.00 hrs on Friday the 21st August 2009. Sri Chirayakodu Vijayan, President Amboori Panchayat, presided over the inaugural meeting.
This programme was implemented under the auspices of Amboori Grama Panchayat, by incurring a total expenditure of Rs. 8 lakhs. With the implementation of this project, it could be possible to treat 250 Kg of decomposing wastes generated daily in the Amboori market in an eco-friendly manner and for producing electricity to light 20 CF lamps installed in the area.
The easily decaying wastes in the market are being treated by the application of bio methanization technology. Electricity is generated by passing the biogas produced, through the Biotech filters for purification, and with the help of the generators. 3 KV electricity is being produced in this way. The electricity generated in the plant is also utilized for making the preconditioner, gas filter and the recycling pump to work. A new programme of cleaning the water coming out of the plant, to be reused for the plant has also been introduced. By this, it could be possible to block the flow of waste water from out of the plant, and to keep the plant and the surroundings very clean and tidy.
