For the purpose of treating biowastes, another plant has also become operational in the Thrikkakara Municipality of the Ernakulam District. This project has also been started and completed with the technical support of BIOTECH, It is only after evaluating the successful working of the existing three waste treatment plants, having different capacities, implemented in the Muncipality, that this new plant having a treatment capacity of 300 kg per day was started and finalised. This is the fourth waste treatment plant installed in the Municipality of Thrikkakara. This plant is located near the N.G. O quarters at Kakkanad at Ernakulam District.
This plant was inaugrated by the shri. P. I. Mohammed Ali Chairman of the Municipality at 4 PM on Wednesday on the 30th of January 2013. The inauguration meeting was chaired by Shri V.D Suresh The health Standing Committee chairman of the Municipality. For completing of this project and for meeting the ancillary items, a total amount of expenditure Rs 17.85 Lakhs had been incurred by the Municipality.
Very modern technology has been applied for the waste treatment process in this plant. By completing this project, apart from treating 300 kg of waste per day in an ecofriendly manner,as much as 5KV of Electricity can also be generated. By making use of the electricity generated from this project, it would be possible to light 50 CF lamps installed in the nearby areas, and also keep the premises of the N.G.O Qurters and the surroundings neat and tidy. It would also be possible to increase the number of electric lights in the area by generating the required electricity from this plant.
